The Richmond Theater Community Circle consists of journalists working in collaboration with members of the greater Richmond theater community to highlight and honor the best of Richmond-area local theater.

Community members who serve on the RTCC are not affiliated with any professional local theatre company but have relevant professional experience working in theater. Community members are nominated by RVA OnStage, Richmond’s local coalition of professional theater companies, they attend the eligible shows and their input is included in the Artsies nomination process equally with the journalists and professional critics (read more about that here).

The members of the RTCC through July 2026 are listed below. These are the voters who chose nominees for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons:

  • Tim Clausing
  • Rachel Dilliplane
  • Julinda Lewis, Ed.D., RTCC president, writes about the local art scene at RVArt Review
  • Melissa Johnston Price, director of the annual Awards event
  • Caroline Weist, Ph.D., professor of German studies, theater and performance studies at University of Richmond
  • Amy Wight, RTCC administrator and producer of the annual Awards event
  • David Timberline, RTCC secretary, writes for Style Weekly & Dave’s Theater Blog, produces the podcast Chasing Phantom

As of August 1, 2026, Tim Clausing and Rachel Dilliplane have stepped down from the RTCC as their terms have expired. Melissa Johnston Price has assumed an ongoing role as a voting member through her service as director of the Artsies event. New members joining the RTCC are:
